Television black hole

| 30 November, 2010

What has happened to the television schedule at the moment? I’m not usually that fussy when it comes to watching the box, but this year there is precious little to rave about. I say that there’s nothing to watch, but if you happen to like watching z-list celebrities trying to resurrect their careers then you can fill your boots!

Just as well I have so many hobbies. I saw a feature on the news the other day about some kids who never get off their behinds, other than to go to the fridge. Without sport, I’d be a mess! There’s nothing like a burst of endorphins to set you up for the day! Anyway, soap box moment over. I’m off to the gym.

BHFC Podcast #2: Bridgewood High Official Song!

| 19 November, 2010

Podcast Logo

Inspired by their brilliant win in the first round of the cup, three Bridgewood High FC players have combined their passion for football with music and have recorded a cup anthem. Timothy-Houghton Smith, Angelo Del Paggio and Aaron Jacobs have worked to produce the song which they hope will be adopted and sung by supporters at future games. The song will also be entered, for assessment, as part of each student’s GCSE coursework.

Using the state-of-the-art music facilities at Bridgewood High School, the three students are pleased with the end result which is available as a free download on this site.

I am sure that I speak on behalf of the entire school by wishing the Bridgewood team the very best of luck in their second round match against Wapping Bow. It would be good to hear the catchy song echoing from the touchline in future games!

‘We’re black, we’re white, our team is dynamite … Bridgewood High!!!!’

Bridgewood High 1–0 Langford Park High

18 November, 2010

Mr Cauldwell reporting from Goresbrook.

Bridgewood were back on form with a comfortable 1–0 victory over Langford Park High, proving they have what it takes to get to the top of the league.

A nervous Bridgewood High stepped onto their home pitch, Goresbrook, with anticipation. Having lost the last two matches, every player was determined that this game would not end in defeat.

The goal for the home side came right at the last minute, when the players, supporters and teachers all thought the match would end in a draw. The movement in midfield enabled Dermott Riley to take advantage as everyone was checking their watches. A beautiful pass from Aaron Jacobs to Riley saw the attacker collect it with ease and slip it into the back of the net, with the Langford Park goalkeeper barely realising it had flown past him. The shrill of the final whistle concluded a well-deserved victory for Bridgewood High.

Winning Ways?

After two losses on the trot, we have secured a win in the league! The lads are all very relieved to have a couple of good results in the bag (the opening round of the cup being the first). I really hope that our form continues in the run up to Christmas. As the ‘Match of the Day’ pundits often point out, league standings at Christmas often reflect the final promotion and relegation battles that take place at the end of the season.

Off to the music studio now, to help upload the cup song onto the internet.

The Football Factor

| 16 November, 2010

After a lot of blood, sweat and tears, the official BHFC cup song is now complete and will be available for your listening pleasure (for free!) on the downloads section of this website (Miss Green said that it should be on the site on Friday). Following in the hallowed steps of football song legends such as Gazza, Waddle, Hoddle, Skinner and Badiel, me and the boys hope to hear the lyrics booming out from the touchlines during our next cup fixture.

During the creative process of making the tune, it got me thinking about the volume of reality / music / dance-based shows that are on the telly at the moment. I’m thinking about writing to Simon Cowell to see if he would be interested in producing my new show entitled: ‘Football Factor’. With no sequins in sight, the show would follow the training and match performance of a group of youngsters hoping to make it as professional players. With the help of audience and judge voting, the would-be footballers would eventually be whittled down to a single winner. The prize would be a contract with one of the top premiership clubs.

So, Mr Cowell, if you’re reading this blog, please feel free to drop me a line. My fees are quite reasonable!!

Views, news or opinions on my bid for becoming a TV mogul are welcome.
